Young members of Başak works in the name of Democracy Young members of Başak have been very excited by the acceptance of Başak Culture and Art Foundation’s project: “Journal of Youth”. Based on “European Union Educational and Youth Programs, Action 1.3” which focuses on “Democracy and Youth”, young members of Başak will meet young members of one organization from Turkey and two organizations from Italy to discuss the topics and then create a journal.
16 young people in total, who are going to meet in Turkey in April and in Italy in September, will obtain the chance to meet new people and a new culture as they enjoy themselves in this workshop. Then, they will determine the subject matter of their journal and write articles about it. Our young “Başak” members will share their experiences they gained in and out of the country with our foundation when they come back to Turkey and thus project’s effects and benefits will spread around. The journal of our project will consist of the articles of our organizations and it will be aimed to catch the similar lines and clarify the differences between the two countries. 40 pages of journal will be in Turkish and other 40 page (which is the translation of the Turkish one) part will be in English. With the literature additions of related organizations and projects, the journal will be approximately 95 pages. The journal will be printed twice and there will be 1600 copies in each edition which will then be sent to partner foundations in Italy and Turkey. Since the project fully focuses on Youth and Democracy, “Journal of Youth” will be completely created by young people. Also with the assistance of a web page, the project will be not limited to participating groups. No matter what language it is in, anyone and any organization will be able to send their writings about “Democracy and Youth” to the journal and all of them will be published Our young people will be challenged in expressing themselves as individuals with this project which aims to show people of both cultures how Democracy and Youth, both in a singular form and together, are perceived and how young people participate in actions about democracy both locally and in general. Our “Başak” members will catch the opportunity to abolish their and others’ prejudices and will be aware of actively participating in a group and in a society, then they will share their experiences with their friends in the foundation to lead them in the path of self-improvement.
