toyz

9 children of Basak and 3 volunteers went to the Toy Museum of Istanbul last Sunday . The excitment was common for the children and the volunteers! The purpose of the visit was to make the children see different toys from different countries (Japan, France, USA, Germany, etc...) from different times.

Our children went to lots of museum for free (Pera museum, Istanbul Graphic Museum, Santral Istanbul, Istanbul Archaeology Museum) that’s way we wanted to go to toy museum free too but we did’t take a  positive answer from the Toy Museum about this. Unfortunately these kids went there by paying although they aren't in a good situation economically. It is the kids that makes toys meaningful, everyone knows this but in spite of everything we sent our kids to the toy museum with our volunteers. We are happy for this.

One of the oldest toy was the first and unique “Mickey Mouse” which inspired later on the world famous “Mickey Mouse”. It was amazing to see the interest that children had for every section of the museum. The poor guide was drawning under questions from the children!

After the visit was over and lunch eaten, we went to the Chocolate house where a wooden toy painting workshop was taking place. Inside of this house a funny character was waiting for us with his two nice assistants. This old man seemed to come from the old tales of Andersen, Grimm Brothers or Perrault.

After each child chose his/her own wooden toy, the color party began! Between creativity doubts, dirty clothes, and so many smiles the workshop went quite well. For the children and for the volunteers, the visit at the Toy Museum was a very nice experience.

With this project kids understood toys world very well form now on they can see themselves like a toy carton star. Most of the stories told by the old toys will stay in the children’s mind. After this experience as Toy Artists, the children will get to attend a wooden toy workshop in Basak within the framework of the project “Benim Dünyam / My World”.

One of our kids' feelings about Toy Museum;  TOY MUSEUM

I will start from my favorite toy in the toy museum. My favorite one was Monalisa. ıt has very differentlife story. For example; Native Americans has very different custom and tradition on their religion. And helpings in the war were interesting. But we have to understand this; war is not a good thing. Peace for world.

And there were some stories about Ayşecik. Ayşecik sometimes became a rich girl, sometimes became a poor girl. But she always has toys. And the other important thing was workshop in the toy museum. There were lots of animal toys from wood. Cows, giraffes, lions, cats, dogs etc… I painted the cow toy. Now we can go under the sea. Ohhh, what a beutiful place! There are lots of fishes. But a little scary even I like it soo much. Now it is time to go. Good bye toy museum!Ronahi DÖLEKAge: 9
